This paper will investigate the literary, philosophical and psychoanalytic origins of the concept of the Body without Organs and propose a provocative new interpretation of this infamous and difficult concept.

Ian Buchanan is Professor of Critical and Cultural Theory at Cardiff University. He is the founding editor of the journal Deleuze Studies and the author of Deleuze and Guattari’s Anti-Oedipus: A Reader's Guide (Continuum, 2008).
